Clik here to view. Based solely on this picture, this blog is likely going to get more hits than the post I wrote about Mary Kay Letourneau’s ten-year wedding anniversary to the former student she molested, had two children with, and then married along with all my opinions about THAT!
This blog post will be WINNING! Even more WINNING-ER than every blog post in the history of the universe, so thanks in advance for all the traffic on my website.
All kidding aside, here’s how this went down, a very anti-climactic story that’s never going to get any press, but here it is: Once upon a time, my friend, Christina, who works on the Trump campaign, bought a copy of Hope Givers, sent me twenty bucks and a couple of these hats. The end.
But here’s what’s really great about this story:
She knew it was a safe thing for her to do. She knows how I vote. I know how she votes. And we are smitten with each other. She knows what I’m all about, and she’s fully on board with all things Hope Givers — she is one. So I received this gift in the spirit it was intended: She packed up the envelope (I know she grinned the whole time) knowing I go to bed every night thinking, “Oh, God… what if he wins?” And here’s what she also knows: I go to bed every night also thinking, “Oh, God… what if SHE wins?” For the first time in my life, I’m going to be writing in a candidate.
But that’s not what this post is about.
This is what I’ve been talking about for a few years now:
We Hope Givers bring it.
And if we don’t, there is none.
There is no Plan B.
We’re it.
I’ve heard more people say in these past few months: “Come, Jesus, come!” seeking some sort of escape from all that we fear. You know what? I think Jesus might not be in too much of a hurry to get back here. Mayhaps — and I can’t speak for Him, really — He’d actually like to see us figure this out based on the fact that He left a few instructions so that we would do things like… oh, I don’t know… BE EMPOWERED?
Why do we think we’re going to be rescued by an entity outside ourselves? Take a look at this video of a group of people in Detroit who had a problem — so they came together to solve it. They didn’t wait for a Presidential candidate to be elected so that it could be fixed. They didn’t call the republicans or the democrats, the libertarians or the independents. They didn’t pray for Jesus to come quickly and rescue them:
I wonder what other problems we could solve without the help of our political parties or crying out to God and begging Him to come save us from anything that jumps out of the dark and spooks us?
I wonder…
